The World Bank (WB) has urged Pakistan to adopt bold, sustained, and people-centred reforms to reduce poverty, build resilience, and protect vulnerable populations, as the country’s poverty rate stands at 25.3%.
The WB report, “Reclaiming Momentum Towards Prosperity: Pakistan’s Poverty, Equity and Resilience Assessment”, released on Tuesday, draws on 25 years of official household surveys and represents the first comprehensive review of poverty and welfare trends since the early 2000s.
