A new biography, Charles III: The Inside Story by Robert Hardman, refutes earlier claims that Donald Trump kept Queen Elizabeth II waiting during his 2018 visit to Windsor Castle. Contrary to A Voyage Around The Queen by Craig Brown, which described Trump as rude and late, Hardman states that Trump arrived exactly on time. The Queen had come out early to inspect the area due to mobility concerns and because it was her first major solo event since Prince Philip’s retirement.
Hardman emphasizes that Trump followed royal protocol, and there was no faux pas despite media criticism. A palace staff member added that Trump and the Queen bonded over their shared Scottish roots, had meaningful discussions, and that Trump was respectful and energetic. In contrast, the staff noted that when Joe Biden visited in 2021, he had to use an old lift due to mobility issues.
