The wife of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny revealed Wednesday that lab analysis of smuggled biological samples confirmed he was killed by poisoning while imprisoned in the Arctic in February 2024. Navalny, long seen as President Vladimir Putin’s most prominent critic, died under suspicious circumstances while serving a 19-year sentence on charges widely regarded as politically motivated.
Navalny was a charismatic anti-corruption campaigner who mobilized hundreds of thousands in anti-Kremlin protests and exposed the alleged wealth and corruption of Putin’s inner circle.
