Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Tuesday granted transit bail to rights activist Advocate Imaan Zainab Mazari-Hazir and her husband Hadi Ali Chattha, three days after they were booked in a case linked to a clash with the Islamabad High Court Bar Association (IHCBA) president.
Police registered a case against Mazari, her spouse, Zainab Janjua, and several PTI-linked lawyers, including Naeem Panjhuta and Fateullah Barki, under anti-terrorism laws, after the IHCBA alleged that its leadership was assaulted by the lawyers, who also raised slogans against state institutions.
The case stemmed from a protest staged at the Islamabad High Court (IHC) by Mazari and the other lawyers to oppose the suspension of Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri from judicial work.
