Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan has directed the National Highway Authority (NHA) to make all motorways barrier-free and adopt international standards of digital tolling and traffic management. AI-based monitoring will begin on the M-1 and M-2 motorways, enabling computerized surveillance and automatic alerts for traffic violations. He stressed replacing manual enforcement with technology to enhance safety.

The minister also called for transparent toll plaza auctions, uniform commercial policies, full digitization of revenue, and public feedback to improve services. Additionally, he instructed the NHA to set fair NOC fees and expand tree plantation along highways, with private sector involvement for long-term upkeep and environmental benefits.
