Pakistan is preparing to introduce its first national esports policy and establish a federation dedicated to the gaming industry, signaling a formal move toward supporting one of the country’s fastest-growing digital sectors.

The policy aims to create a structured framework for players, developers, and other professionals within Pakistan’s esports ecosystem, which now includes approximately 60 million gaming enthusiasts nationwide.

According to an official press release, Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Program, stated that the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to youth empowerment through digital innovation. He highlighted esports as a multibillion-dollar global industry offering opportunities in international competitions, sponsorships, and prize money.

Khan added that the government, under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, is taking measurable steps to expand digital opportunities for young people, with esports identified as a key pillar in its broader innovation and technology strategy.

Pakistan has already made notable progress in international gaming titles such as Tekken and PUBG Mobile, setting the stage for greater participation on the global esports circuit. Officials believe the new policy will help formalize that growth and provide a pathway for local talent to reach competitive levels abroad.
