MediaTek has announced the Dimensity 9500, its newest flagship chipset aimed at raising standards for on-device artificial intelligence, gaming, and power efficiency.

The Dimensity 9500 uses the latest generation Arm CPU cores in an “All Big Core” configuration, featuring a single Arm C1-Ultra core at 4.21GHz, three C1-Premium cores, and four C1-Pro cores.

According to MediaTek, the new chip achieves 32% higher single-core and 17% higher multi-core performance over its predecessor, the Dimensity 9400. The ultra core offers up to 55% lower power consumption at peak performance, while overall multitasking efficiency improves by 30%. Support for Armv9.3 and SME2 instructions enhances AI and machine learning capabilities.

Upgrades in Storage and Graphics

The Dimensity 9500 introduces 4-channel UFS 4.1 storage support, providing up to double the sequential data speeds. Its new Arm G1-Ultra GPU delivers 33% higher peak performance and 42% greater power efficiency. The GPU is equipped with double the ray tracing units, resulting in a 112% improvement in ray tracing performance. It supports 120fps ray-traced gaming, the Vulkan ray tracing pipeline, and Unreal Engine 5’s MegaLights and Nanite features.

Advanced AI and Imaging

The chipset features MediaTek’s ninth-generation NPU 990 with Generative AI Engine 2.0, which doubles compute power compared to previous generations and introduces BitNet 1.58-bit processing. This design reduces power consumption by up to 33% and enables faster processing of large language models and 4K image generation at 56% lower power use. The Super Efficient NPU integrates compute-in-memory architecture, supporting continuous AI operation with reduced energy demands.

The Imagiq 1190 ISP supports RAW-domain pre-processing for up to 200MP images at 30fps and introduces a new portrait engine for 4K 60fps video. The ISP also supports the latest MiraVision Adaptive Display technology.

Connectivity and Network Optimization

Power consumption is reduced by 10% for 5G connections and 20% for Wi-Fi, while 5CC carrier aggregation increases bandwidth by 15%. AI-driven positioning and network selection improve accuracy by 20% and reduce network latency by 50% through congestion prediction.

MediaTek positions the Dimensity 9500 to compete with the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. Flagship devices such as the Oppo Find X9 Pro and Vivo X300 are expected to launch with the new chipset later this year.
