The federal government has appointed a new chairperson and members to the Benami Adjudicating Authority, Islamabad, for a term of three years, or until they reach the age of 62.

According to a notification issued by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), the appointments were approved by the federal cabinet under Case No. 694/Rule-19/2025/919 dated October 3, 2025.

Waqar Ahmad, a retired BS-22 officer, has been appointed as Chairperson and Member of the Authority. Zahoor Ahmad, also a retired BS-22 officer, and Abdul Majid Yousfani, a retired PCS/BS-21 officer, have been appointed as Members.

Officials said the appointments are part of the government’s broader effort to strengthen enforcement against benami transactions and enhance transparency in property and financial dealings.

The Benami Adjudicating Authority, operating under the Benami Transactions (Prohibition) Act, is responsible for adjudicating cases and ensuring implementation of anti-benami laws.

The newly appointed officials bring decades of public sector experience, which authorities said will help improve the credibility and efficiency of the Authority’s operations.
