Earthquake Shakes Several Cities in PakistanEarthquake Shakes Several Cities in Pakistan
A magnitude 5.3 earthquake struck on Tuesday night, shaking several major cities in Pakistan, including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Chitral, Swat, Dir, and Malakand, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) reported.
The PMD said the quake originated in the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan at a depth of 234 kilometers.
Emergency response teams and district administrations across the affected regions have been placed on alert while the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) gathers data to confirm the quake’s origin and intensity.
So far, no injuries or structural damage have been reported. However, authorities have urged citizens to stay vigilant, avoid unnecessary panic, and wait for official updates from disaster management agencies.
Pakistan lies in a seismically active zone, and moderate to strong tremors are common due to tectonic movements along the Himalayan fault line. Seismologists are monitoring the situation closely for any potential aftershocks.
