Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah visited the Karimabad Underpass on Sunday to review the pace of construction, directing the Karachi Development Authority to accelerate work and finish the project within the approved timeline.
During the visit, he made it clear that the government would not accept any further delays. Local Bodies Minister Nasir Hussain Shah briefed the chief minister and said the project is estimated to cost Rs. 3.81 billion.
Murad Ali Shah noted that once completed, the underpass will significantly improve the flow of traffic in the area.
He said the provincial government is prioritizing the provision of essential civic facilities and expects all agencies involved to work efficiently.
The project has drawn public criticism due to repeated delays, which have disrupted business activity in the surrounding locality. Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab had earlier set a September deadline for completion, but construction remains unfinished.
