Pakistan’s top professional boxer Muhammad Waseem successfully defended his WBA World Bantamweight Gold title on Saturday night, defeating Thailand’s southpaw Jakrawut Majungoen after a full 12-round contest at Lahore’s Garrison Sports Complex.

The high-profile bout headlined the Fight for Glory event, regarded as one of the biggest professional boxing shows ever organised in Pakistan. Waseem entered the ring after months of preparation in Liverpool under coach Danny Vaughan.

Ahead of the fight, the 38-year-old said he was determined to defend a world title in front of a home crowd. “I’ve put in everything for this fight night,” he said, having adjusted his training specifically for Majungoen’s left-handed stance.

The Lahore edition expanded even further. According to Punjab Sports Minister Faisal Ayub Khokhar, the card featured more than seven fights and included 38 foreign athletes alongside six Pakistani boxers.

Muhammad Waseem, known in the ring as The Falcon, has a professional record of 14 wins in 16 outings, with 10 knockouts. He previously secured the WBC Silver Flyweight title in 2016 and narrowly missed the IBF world flyweight crown against Sunny Edwards in 2021.

The Fight for Glory series was organized with the support of the Punjab government. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz attended the final night as the chief guest. The three-day boxing festival ran from November 26 to 29, with Waseem’s title defence serving as the grand finale.
