The Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) has announced that eight national athletes, including Olympic gold medalist Arshad Nadeem, will receive their first quarterly grants under the IOC Olympic Solidarity Scholarship programme to support their preparation for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games (LA28).
Each athlete is set to receive USD 13,500 per year from September 2025 through August 2028, providing crucial financial support for training and international competition.
Among the recipients is Olympic gold medalist Arshad Nadeem, the only awardee from athletics and a recurring beneficiary of the programme.
The National Rifle Association of Pakistan leads the list with five athletes selected: Kishmala Talat, Paris 2024 Olympian and the first Pakistani woman to directly qualify for the Olympics, along with Rabia Kabir, Muhammad Farrukh Nadeem, Sulaiman Khan, and Imam Haroon.
Other athletes benefiting from the scholarship include table tennis player Haiqa Hassan and taekwondo competitor Fateemaah-tuz-Zahraa Khawar.
In a statement on social media, the POA said:
These athletes continue to represent Pakistan with dedication, resilience, and excellence on their road to the LA28 Olympic Games.
The IOC Olympic Solidarity Programme is designed to assist National Olympic Committees worldwide, particularly those in need, by providing funding to support athlete development and preparation for major competitions. In April, the POA confirmed that Pakistan’s National Olympic Committee had received the scholarship allocation for its athletes.
