UAE Responds to Visa Ban News on PakistanisUAE Responds to Visa Ban News on Pakistanis
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Consul General in Karachi has dismissed reports claiming that Pakistanis are being denied visas, calling the rumors “completely false” and confirming that visa processing continues as normal.
UAE Consul General Bakheet Ateeq Alremeithi told Geo News that every visa category is being issued, and the consulate is experiencing a record surge in applications. He said demand has risen so sharply that several visa types now require advance bookings stretching beyond one month, marking the highest volume the consulate has seen in three years.
His clarification followed remarks made by Additional Interior Secretary Salman Chaudhry during a recent meeting of the Senate Functional Committee on Human Rights. Chaudhry had told the committee that the UAE was not issuing visas to Pakistani citizens and claimed the Pakistani passport had narrowly avoided a ban from both the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
He had also stated that the UAE was issuing visas only to holders of blue or diplomatic passports. The UAE envoy firmly rejected these claims, reiterating that no ban exists and that visa processing for Pakistani applicants continues across all categories.
