Deadline Announced for Completion of Mega Projects in Islamabad

Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Mohammad Ali Randhawa has instructed officials to complete all mega development projects before the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit and other international conferences in Islamabad.

Chairing a high-level meeting, Randhawa was joined by Member Administration Talat Mahmood, Member Finance Tahir Naeem, Member Engineering Syed Nafasat Raza, Member Planning and Design Dr Khalid Hafiz, Member Environment Esfandyar Baloch, and other relevant officers.

According to a CDA statement, the meeting included a briefing on the mega projects designed to enhance arrangements for the SCO summit. Officials reported that the request for proposal (RFP) for various projects is in its final stages.

For the first phase, the authority will hire internationally and nationally renowned consultants. Work is underway on PC-1 and PC-2 documentation as well as the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for all projects.

Randhawa emphasized that these mega projects aim to transform Islamabad into a world-class, modern city. He stressed the importance of completing the projects before the SCO summit and instructed officials to maintain a fully open and transparent competitive process in all project procedures.

He also directed that PC-1 approvals and tendering processes for all mega projects be accelerated to enable formal commencement next year. Randhawa highlighted that completing these projects will position Islamabad as a hub for international and national events, tourism, and diplomatic activities.
