Apple is preparing to release a successor to the iPhone Air next year, according to a new leak from tipster Digital Chat Station. Despite earlier reports of production challenges, the company is expected to stick to a regular update cycle for its thin and light device.

The next iPhone Air is rumored to retain its slim profile while featuring a 6.5-inch Super Retina XDR display. Face ID will remain part of the package, while the back of the device will see a notable camera redesign.

One of the biggest changes is expected in the camera system. Apple is reportedly adding a 48MP ultrawide lens alongside the existing 48MP main camera. The current iPhone Air model only includes a single rear camera, which Apple has promoted as offering “multiple cameras in one,” but it lacks a dedicated ultrawide lens. The update aims to address that limitation, giving users access to wider shots that the current device can only simulate by cropping.

The new leak also suggests that Apple will arrange the cameras horizontally rather than vertically, setting the design apart from the iPhone 17. It remains unclear whether the iPhone Air 2 will support spatial video capture, a feature linked to Apple’s decision to use a vertical camera setup in the base model.

The iPhone Air 2 is expected to come in 256GB and 512GB storage options, both with 12GB of RAM. Pricing is likely to start at $959.99 for the 256GB variant, with higher storage options priced accordingly in Europe and the UK.
