Naqsh Leads Pre-COP30 Global Ethical Stocktake Dialogue in KarachiNaqsh Leads Pre-COP30 Global Ethical Stocktake Dialogue in Karachi
Naqsh, a newly established women-led participatory social impact consultancy, hosted Pakistan’s Global Ethical Stocktake (GES) dialogue on Friday, October 24, at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences (FAS), Agha Khan University, Karachi. The event was hosted in partnership with Project Dandelion and ClimateREACH and its Founder, renowned climate activist – Ahmad Shabbar – as part of the COP30 Presidency’s global call for informal dialogues to contribute to GES process.
While Pakistan has previously conducted national climate stocktakes, this gathering represents one of the only civil society engagements within the COP30 Global Ethical Stocktake process, exploring the moral, cultural, and justice dimensions of the climate crisis and solutions.
“This Stocktake is an opportunity for us in Pakistan to demonstrate that we are not merely victims of the climate crisis but co-creators, leaders of climate strategy -as holders of wisdom, on the frontlines of environmental defense – as our people deserve,” said Farwah Gulamali Khataw, Co-Founder & Chief Executive Officer of Naqsh.
Participants from youth movements, academia, grassroots communities, the development sector, and the corporate world gathered to reflect on Pakistan’s climate moral framework.
“At Naqsh, we design spaces for dialogue that are both intentional and inclusive. Our dialogue in Karachi centered the voices that are too often left unheard in climate discussions. We believe that engagement built on empathy and understanding can lead to lasting impact,” said Saadia Khalid, Co-Founder & Chief Strategy & Engagement Officer of Naqsh.
The dialogue’s insights will be highlighted and converted into a post-event report that will be submitted to the global GES compilation ahead of COP30 in Brazil.
“This is Pakistan’s moment to remind the world that justice, culture, and ethics are as vital to climate action as technology and finance. We bring to the table our history, our communities, and our agency for a more positive impact” said Zareen Zahid Qureshi, Co-Founder & Chief Impact Officer of Naqsh.
This gathering marks Naqsh’s first public convening and positions the consultancy as a credible, justice-oriented thought partner from the Global South. Through its focus on participatory design, storytelling, and locally grounded action, Naqsh emphasizes that real progress happens only when those living the crisis are shaping the solutions.
