In a significant relief for consumers, the Government of Pakistan has announced a major reduction in the price of petrol, cutting it by Rs. 5.66 per litre for the next fortnight.

The new price of MS (petrol) will be Rs. 263.02 per litre, down from the previous rate of Rs. 268.68.

Alongside petrol, prices of other petroleum products have also been reduced. High Speed Diesel (HSD) will now be available at Rs. 275.41 per litre, a decrease of Rs. 1.39. Superior Kerosene Oil (SKO) has been reduced by Rs. 3.26 to Rs. 181.71 per litre, while Light Diesel Oil (LDO) will cost Rs. 162.76 per litre after a cut of Rs. 2.74.

The Finance Division stated that these adjustments are intended to provide relief to the public and support economic activity by lowering transportation and production costs.

The decision, effective from October 16, 2025, follows recommendations from the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) and consultations with relevant ministries. The move comes as part of the government’s regular review of petroleum prices, aimed at passing on the benefits of changing international oil prices to the public.

The new prices will be effective from October 16, 2025.
