The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has confirmed that its Executive Director, Prof. Dr. Zia-ul-Qayyum, has stepped down from his post.
According to an official notification issued on October 2, 2025, his resignation was accepted with immediate effect following the approval of the HEC Chairman.
The office order has been circulated to top federal and provincial government officials, including the Prime Minister’s Secretariat, President’s Secretariat, Ministry of Federal Education & Professional Training, and the governors of all provinces, as well as vice-chancellors of public and private universities across Pakistan.
Dr. Zia-ul-Qayyum had been serving as the Executive Director of HEC, overseeing key initiatives in higher education and academic development across the country.
No announcement has yet been made regarding his successor.
