Housing Society in Islamabad Reportedly Sold 200 Kanals of Land Illegally

A federal audit has uncovered that Jinnah Garden Housing Society illegally converted nearly 200 kanals of land—originally reserved for public amenities like parks, schools, playgrounds, and graveyards—into residential plots, selling them in violation of planning laws.

Key findings include:

  • Land value of approximately Rs2 billion misused.
  • Violations of the CDA Ordinance 1960 and Islamabad Zoning Regulations.
  • Development carried out without CDA’s No-Objection Certificate (NOC).
  • Mortgaged plots (held in CDA’s name) were illegally sold.
  • No penalties were imposed or recovered by CDA, causing an additional loss of Rs25.48 million.
